'Nonsensical & inconsistent:' Bedford DA's office under fire from judge after 2nd mistrial

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A Bedford County judge is admonishing the district attorney's office for having three cases involving crimes against children end without a verdict, in the span of a few months. In two of the cases, the accused individual cannot be retried, due to "double jeopardy" rules, which means they are walking free. Fire crews battle house fire in Boggs Twp.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Firefighters from the Citizens Hook & Ladder Co. 1 of Milesburg and several other departments, responded to a house fire around 5:50 Friday evening. It happened at a home located on Old Route 220 Road in Boggs Township. The garage, along with a car and a camper in the driveway were completely destroyed. The rest of the house also suffered damage, though it's not clear the extent of it. Read More...

Jackson Twp first responders receive $25K donation from Competitive Power Ventures

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Representatives from Competitive Power Ventures presented checks of a combined $30,000 Tuesday to the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company and Police Department. The fire company's president, Steve Yarina, says the $25,000 they've received helps take away stress from fundraising and helps the fire company focus on efficiency. He says the funds will go toward replacing two of its fire engines by next year and buying new equipment. Read More...
